It was a real privilege to work with a great team of people on Sonic Landscape. This is hopefully a first step on an exciting creative journey that will continue into next year. Hey all that have been on sonic landscape. It’s Craig here. I just wanted to say what an amazing experience I have had during my 3 days with you all. I am now back in Manchester and after a MAMMOTH 14 hours sleep thought it about time I spoke of the experience up there with you. Its been truly inspiring working on this project with so many young people all up for learning about how art works. Believe me when I say the adults and artists have all been on a learning curve too. It was a real shame that a lot of people got ill and didn’t make it to the final day but if its any consolation to you younger people at least 4 adults were taken down by our mysterious bug too and missed the last day so don’t feel too gutted you missed it and there will be more opportunity to experience further projects. It’s just left for me to say if you get any opportunity what ever the art form in the future have a go and if you don’t see any opportunities then go out there and try and seek some out. Good luck to you all i wish you all the very best and hope to visit you again soon. Craig

Absolutely exhausted after an amazing, exhilarating and very intense 3 days. Big Hallo to everyone who got ill – WE MISSED YOU! Hope you are feeling better, please let us know how u are getting on. Saffron’s Recollection of the day:

Once again, like yesterday day we assembled at the Lantern House at 10am regardless of the complaints from the workshop contestants of the “Early” rise and as if we were living in some strange world full of dejavu, we once again played violent games.
After a brief run into town we set off to Bob’s workshop where I was fortunate enough to have Simon as a human meat shield so I wasn’t splashed by cars driving past.
Upon our arrival and after being fed, which I thought somehow resembled a zoo at feeding time in slow motion. The group was split into 3 sub-groups, one group was ushered off to the yurt for some word art, The other group skipped off to the techno-tent and the last group, Which also happened to be the group which I was apart of, Stayed shop inside bob’s workshop. We collected 8 pipes from Bob’s off-limits section from the back of the workshop, carried them back and laid them in a large heap on the floor of the workshop. It made a rather humorous CLASH sound if you just so happen to drop the pipes. While the rest of the workshop continued to create some bizarre midget death trap, Craig taught me some wonderful basic drumming skills which seemed to be tricky due to my rather bad hand-beat coordination.
The drumming continued until my left hand started to ache in which I decided to take a break and investigate the contraption the rest of my group had been putting together.
The Creation was some sort of pipe based house with various objects suspended from thick string. I am led to believe it’s for hitting purposes, except upon the drumming trail I some how managed to put a rather small dent in the milk pail shaped object…
We also had a lot of random people running around blinding us all with flashes of light, Apparently 150 photos worth of flash blinding light, Lovely… My optician shall be most please when I go back for an eye re-test…

Today I learnt that Craig had been drumming for 10 years; He originally started off with a drum kit for 15 years but prefers African drumming due to the pop culture destroying any drumming originality. I also learnt that Craig has a group of people that all do African drumming and Bob intends to take his bike sculpture to festivals. I also discovered Crystallize is a particularly easy person to scare…

(P.s. Today’s post is smaller than yesterdays but I’m darn tired!!!)
